with the Principal will be held on Friday, September 28th. This is a
great opportunity to get to know Mrs. Watson, share ideas, ask questions,
and have good conversations. To take part in this please meet at 8:30
AM in the staff lounge, room 1303.
AOMS Annual Magazine
Drive
The Annual Magazine Drive is in full swing. We have
reached halfway to our goal of $30,000. The last magazine
turn in date is this Friday, September 28th. Please let your family, friends and
coworkers know that they can order online at www.qsp.com . We will have
a table set up outside of the gym on Friday morning for students to
submit their orders. Prizes will be distributed at
lunch. Thank you in advance for supporting your school!
Parent Volunteers needed to help during magazine turn in from 7:15AM to

Morning Drop Off
When you drop your child off in the morning, please pull forward all
the way to the portable buildings in order to let more cars into the
parking lot.
Emergency Kits Still
Available
Parents, you can still purchase Emergency Kits for you student to have
at school. Emergency kits purchased at the elementary school are not transferred
to the middle school, and kits for one student do not transfer to another
sibling. Help keep our students prepared and safe! Don't delay,
order yours today. The kits are $7 and have a shelf life of 4
years. If you haven't purchased an emergency kit you still can on the

PTSA Reflections
Program
The Reflections Program is underway and this year's theme is "I
Can Make a Difference By...." Encourage your child to
create an original piece of art work reflecting this years theme in one of
the following categories: literature, musical composition,
photography, visual arts, dance choreography or film/video production.
Entries are due in the office by noon on Friday, October 19th.
Everyone who participates will receive a prize at the reception in
November, and winners will receive a cash prize and move on to compete
against students from other schools. Click here for the rules and

choose what is most deserving of your time, once a week, once a month, or

A teacher "Wish List" has been set up on the AOMS website.
Donate now to help our teachers with their basic classroom

contact them to ensure the item has not been recently acquired.
It's
time for you to join the AOMS PTSA!
Our
membership campaign is in full swing. Membership
opportunities are available to both students and parents. For the
cost of a $20 membership, you not only join an association with over 2
million PTA members nationwide, but you also support one of the strongest
child advocacy organizations operating at the local, state and
national levels. In addition, you receive a complimentary copy of the
AOMS 2007-2008 Student Directory. (Non-member cost is $5).

Parent Teacher
Conferences
Parent-Teacher conferences will be held the week of October 22nd -
26th. AOMS will be on a minimum day schedule all week, with dismissal
at 1:10 PM. Teachers will conference with parents of students who are
performing below grade level. Teachers will contact parents to set up
an appointment.
6th Grade Camp
6th graders will attend camp this year for three days instead of
five. AOMS will attend Camp Cuyamaca from April 16th - 18th.
6th grade families will receive more information at a later date.
School Loop is Here
School Loop is an Internet web-based education service platform that
will provide a free daily homework email and a website specifically
relating to your child at AOMS. This service is free and provides you
and your student with the ability to view homework assignments and due
dates, and communicate easily with your student's teachers.

Parents on Campus (POC)
Do you want to get the feel for the climate at AOMS, and see the kids
in action? Volunteer as a Parent
on Campus at lunchtime. The hours are 11:00AM to 1:15PM (or
anytime within that framework that you're available). You can
volunteer once a week, every other week, once a month, or one time.
Just contact Tamara Ogg to get your name on the schedule by emailing her at tamarao@pacbell.net, or calling
her at 760-918-9795. Thanks for
volunteering!
Returned Mail
Periodically the office sends mail out with the wording "For the
Parents/Guardians of". The office has been receiving numerous
report cards and STAR test results back. Some have the correct
address, but because the student's last name is different than the
parent's last name it is returned marked as "attempted -not
known". Please check to see if your mailbox is marked with the
parent's last name and the students last name.
Change of Address or
Phone Number
If you have a change of address and or phone number during the school year
please inform the office of this change. You can call or complete a
"Student Information Update" form available at the front desk.
Seventh Grade Parents:
The Seventh Grade Science Teachers would like to thank all the generous
parents who donated to the science department. Your donations will be
used to purchase lab materials and equipment. Your support has been
amazing!
AOMS Roller Hockey Team
The AOMS Roller Hockey Team is in need of players. Practices will
begin in November. Anyone interested please call Mike or Renae
at 760-476-0731.
Surfs Up
The first Surf Team meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 25th, in
Room 1602 from 2:20 - 2:45 PM. The parent meeting will be held
on Wednesday, September 26th, in room 1602 from 5:00 - 5:30 PM.

Parent Project is a comprehensive, award-winning and activity-based
parenting skills program focusing on prevention and intervention of the
most destructive of adolescent behavior.

CHS
Dance Teams Golf Tournament
The
7th Annual CHS Dance Team Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, October
15th at the Crossings at Carlsbad. All proceeds benefit the Lancer
Dancers and Xcalibur Dance Teams. Cost for the four person scramble
is $175 per player, or $650 per team. The day includes prizes,
dinner, silent auction and live performances by both teams.

Ecke YMCA Teen Dance
Friday, September 28th, the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA will be
holding the first Teen Dance of the School Year! Ages 12 - 15 are
welcome to enjoy dancing, a live DJ, and much more. All teens must
have a current medical release/liability waiver form and a Teen Dance
policies and permission slip on file prior to signing
