AOMS Email Blast


S.T.O.P. Concert
The AOMS Band and Orchestra classes will be performing for the first time this year on October 23rd.  The S.T.O.P.  concert is a "Salute to Our Parents", and all three Band classes and both Orchestra classes will be performing.  The concert starts at 6:00 pm.  Come out and hear the amazing talent AOMS has.

Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher conferences will be held  next week,  October 22nd - 26th.  AOMS will be on a minimum day schedule all week next week, with dismissal at 1:10 PM.  Teachers will conference with parents of students who are performing below grade level.  Teachers will contact parents to set up an appointment.

Lunchtime Clubs
Lunchtime clubs are starting up!  Mrs. Bray will have a book club for 6th graders during their lunch period.  Mr. Moreno will have a chess club for 7th graders during their lunchtime.  Have your student contact these teachers during lunchtime if they are interested.

After-School Clubs
After School Clubs will soon be starting up.   At this time we have the following clubs:  The Christian Club, the Homework Club, Scrap Booking Club, Jewelry Making Club and the AO ECO Club (community/environmental services).  Information about each club will be forthcoming as the club begins to start.  The clubs will be on campus usually from 2:15 - 3:15 PM, once a week on a designated day.  Many clubs will have a maximum number of participants so it will be offered to the first students who sign up.   More detailed information will be coming soon about each club.

Homework Club
The Homework Club will be starting on Wednesday, October 17th.   It will be run by Mrs. Hauck-Wood and Mr. Knoll in rooms 1306 and 1304 from 2:15 to 3:15 PM.  This club will meet the 1st, 3rd, and 4th Wednesdays of the month.  Students will be expected to work on their homework and help will be available for the subjects of English and Math.  To participate, students can pick up an information sheet from Mrs. Hauck-Wood in room 1306.   The first 30 students to sign-up can participate.

AOMS Roller Hockey Team
Come out and have some fun and join the AOMS Roller Hockey Team.  The Roller Hockey Team is in need of players.  NO experience needed.  Boys and Girls welcome.  Practices will begin in November.  For more information please pick up a flyer in the office, or call Jamie Manning at 931-0812 or Mike & Renae at 476-0731.  We look forward to seeing you.

CPR/First Aid Classes
CPR/First Aid Class offered!   Brought to you by the AOMS PTSA, a CPR/AED and First Aid Course will be held on Monday, October 29th and Tuesday, October
30th from 3-6 PM.  This course is offered to both students and adults.  You will become American Heart Association Certified for 2 years after taking this course.  Both classes are only $35 and $25 if you are only able to take one!  A form and more information are available by clicking here.  Forms are due into the office by October 24th to reserve your spot. Teacher Wish Lists
A teacher "Wish List" has been set up on the AOMS website.  Donate now to help our teachers with their basic classroom necessities.  Click here to view the teachers and their wish lists.  Click on a teacher's name to contact them to ensure the item has not been recently acquired.

PTSA Reflections Program
The Reflections Program is underway and this year's theme is "I Can Make a Difference By...."   Encourage your child to create an original piece of art work reflecting this years theme in one of the following categories:  literature, musical composition, photography, visual arts, dance choreography or film/video production.  Entries are due in the office by noon on Friday, October 19th.  Everyone who participates will receive a prize at the reception in November, and winners will receive a cash prize and move on to compete against students from other schools.  Click here for the rules and entry form.  Questions?  Contact Barbie Oetting at  theoettings@yahoo.com .

Student Volunteers
Student Volunters are needed for the AOE Halloween Dance.  Are you a 6th, 7th, or 8th grader needing volunteer hours?  You can help the elementary school out and have some fun at the same time.  Please contact Jacquee at jmrenna@msn.com if you would like to work at the elementary Halloween Dance on Friday, October 26th, from 5:30 to 9:00 PM.

8th Grade Promotions
Parents and students who are interested in helping plan and coordinate this year's 8th Grade Promotion activities and ceremony, please contact Jacquee Renna at jmrenna@msn.com .

Emergency Kits Still Available
Parents, you can still purchase Emergency Kits for you student to have at school.   Emergency kits purchased at the elementary school are not transferred to the middle school, and kits for one student do not transfer to another sibling.  Help keep our students prepared and safe!  Don't delay, order yours today.  The kits are $7 and have a shelf life of 4 years.  If you haven't purchased an emergency kit you still can on the PTSA membership form.  Just click here!
