From the Principal
School started back up today, and it is our hope that this finds your family and friends safe.   This week will be regular scheduled school hours (7:45 AM to 2:10 AM), with Thursday being a minimum day dismissing at 1:10 PM.  Lunch, brunch, and P.E. will be held indoors until the air quality improves.

Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher conferences will be rescheduled only for students who teachers feel it is absolutely necessary to have a conference with their parent.   These conferences may be face-to-face or may be a telephone conference.  If you are not contacted and feel you need a conference, please feel free to contact your child's teachers to make an appointment.

Science Olympiad Coaches Wanted
This year Aviara Oaks Middle School Science Department will enter the San Diego Science Olympiad.  AOMS is currently looking for coaches who will help students train and practice for this event.  A coaches meeting has be rescheduled for Monday, November 5th, at 5:00 PM in room 1602.  If you can not make this meeting contact Todd McGinnis at 331-6122.  Please click here for further information on this event and for a list of the speciality areas available to coaches.  Share your knowledge and support AOMS and its students.

Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week has been rescheduled for next week, November 5th - 9th.   The Red Ribbon Campaign was started when drug traffickers in Mexico City murdered DEA agent Kiki Camerana in 1985.  This began the continuing tradition of displaying Red Ribbons as a symbol of intolerance towards the use of drugs. The week's activities include spirit days and signing pledge cards to be drug free.  Another update will be coming out listing what days the specific activities will occur.  We hope that this is another opportunity to start valuable conversations with your children.  For more resources, visit the Parent Resource section of the National PTA's website at www.pta.org .

Fred Becker Presentation
As a part of Red Ribbon Week, Valley Middle School PTSA will be providing a District Wide parent presentation by Fred Becker, Director of the Becker Institute.   Mr. Becker's lively interactive presentation will give you tools and insight to work with your emerging teenager.  The presentation will take place in the multi-use room at Valley Middle School on Thursday, November 1st, from 9:00 - 11:00 AM.
