Red Ribbon Week
This week is Red Ribbon Week at AOMS.   Encourage your students to show their spirit and participate in the various activities.  Each activity they participate in they will receive a raffle ticket.  Raffles will be held during each lunch on Friday.  Red Ribbon week is an opportune time to educate and start conversations with our students about making healthy choices and making a commitment towards a drug free life.   For more resources, visit the Parent Resource section of the National PTA's website at www.pta.org .   For more tips on talking with your teen and signs to be on the lookout for click here.

Spirit Week
In honor of Red Ribbon Spirit Week, the PTSA and ASB are encouraging all students to show their spirit of a drug free life by participating in the following ways this week:  (Dress Code must be followed during spirit week)

Wednesday:  Lei off Drugs - Wear leis and hawaiian clothing
Thursday:  Intercept Unhealthy Lifestyle Choices - Wear football related clothing
Friday:  Let Your Spirit Shine - wear purple and black

S.T.O.P. Concert
The S.T.O.P. concert has been rescheduled for tonight, Tuesday, November 6th.  The concert will take place in the AOMS Multi-Purpose Room beginning at 6:00 PM.  Please feel free to come and hear what beautiful music your students can make!  The Beginning and Intermediate Orchestra will be performing, along with the Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Bands, and several small performing ensembles.  Come and support these talented students!

Lancer Day Rescheduled
Lancer Day has been rescheduled for Friday, November 9th.  AOMS will be on a minimum day with dismissal at 1:10 PM.  Lancer Day Homecoming Parade is scheduled for 2:00 PM downtown Carlsbad, starting on Pine Ave.

Reflections Reception and Award Presentation
All PTSA Reflections Program participants and their parents are invited to attend the 2007 PTSA Reflections Reception and Award Presentation.  This event will be held in the AOMS gym on Tuesday, November 13th at 6:30 PM.  This is a wonderful opportunity to see all the amazing entries, and for students to be recognized for their creative work.  All participants will receive a prize!  Please contact Barbie Oetting with questions at 760-931-6826.

Odyssey of the Mind
Are you ready to take and "Odyssey of the Mind"?
Odyssey of the Mind is an exciting challenge where creative thinking is encouraged and there are no wrong answers.  Stop by the information table during lunch on November 13 and 14 to find out how YOU can be part of AOMS's first Odyssey of the Mind team.  You can find out more about the tournament by visiting   www.odysseyofthemind.com .

Boys Basketball Begins Soon
Any AOMS boys interested in playing on the Falcons basketball team need to pick up a form from the office.  All forms and checks must be turned in by November 15th to the office.  Tryouts will be held December 3rd, 4th, and 6th.  Games will be played on Mondays and Thursdays, with practice on Tuesdays.

Yearbooks For Sale!!!
Yearbooks are still for sale!  Get one now for $30 before the price goes up on November 9th.  Layaway plans and scholarship applications available.  Please click here for  yearbook order forms and more information.

Lunchtime Clubs
Lunchtime clubs are starting up!  Mrs. Bray will have a book club for 6th graders during their lunch period.  Mr. Moreno will have a chess club for 7th graders during their lunchtime.  Have your student contact these teachers during lunchtime if they are interested.

Congratulations Drama 2
Congratulations to the students of Ms. Emert's Drama 2 class for placing first overall in the Drama Teachers Association of Souther California's Fall Festival.   The staff, parents, and students of AOMS are proud of you!

CPR/First Aid Classes
The CPR/First Aid Classes have been rescheduled.   The CPR/AED and First Aid Course will be held on Monday, December 3rd and Tuesday, December 4th,  from 3-6 PM.  This course is offered to both students and adults.  You will become American Heart Association Certified for 2 years after taking this course.  Both classes are only $35 and $25 if you are only able to take one!  Updated forms and more information are available by clicking here.  Forms are due into the office by November 28th to reserve your spot. 8th Grade Promotion
