Volunteer Breakfast
The AOMS staff and administration would like to invite all AOMS Parent Volunteers to the Volunteer Breakfast.  Please plan on attending a very special breakfast to thank you for your time, talent and treasure this year!  Drop the kids and head on over for some treats on June 5th, at 8:00 AM in the the Staff Lounge, Room 1303.  Please pass th word to your friends and family who have also given of their time.

Lost and Found

Please have your child check the lost and found bin which is located outside the school office. The bin is full of clothing, shoes and many other items.  After May 30th, all unclaimed items will be donated to charity.  There are also various small items being held in the office.  Please have your child check with Ms. Palmer at the front desk if they have lost any jewelry, glasses or small electronic devices.


Library Books
All library books were due last Friday, May 23rd.  If you still have any books out, please return to the library ASAP.

Textbook Return Schedule
Students will be returning ALL of their textbooks with their English class.  This is a good day to bring in textbooks in a carrier with wheels.  Please have students remove all papers, erase andy pencil marks and tape any gently torn pages at home.  STudents need to clear their library and textbook records in order to have a smooth registration and textbook distribution experience in the Fall.

Parents, if you wish to volunteer to assist with textbook return, please call Suzi Koepping at 760-331-6189.

Book Drive

A Book Drive to benefit the Community Resource Center children of domestic violence will be going on from May 27th to June 4th.  If you would like to donate, please bring in a new or gently used books and new school supplies.  Mrs. Kohn's Community Service class will be in front of the office before school collecting donations from May 27th  through June 4th.  They will also be accepting donations during Open House.  Thank you for your support.  Any questions, please contact Chris Kohn at 760-331-6100 ext. 6003 .


Attention 8th Grade Boys
Do you want to be part of  a Championship team?  Carlsbad High School has won 5 CIF Water Polo Championship titles in a row.  If you can swim, surf, or just want to learn a new sport, come watch their last day of spring practice.  Meet some of the players, the coaches and enjoy pizza with the team.  May 30th, 4:00 PM at Carlsbad HS pool.  For more information call Jody at 994-0648 or Shelly at 431-5445.

Dress Code for 8th Grade Promotion Dance
 All 8th graders attending the dance at the Crossings on June 6th will be expected to adhere to the current school dress code with the following exceptions: Spaghetti straps and straps less than 2" in width will be allowed provided a sweater or shrug is worn. No strapless dresses will be allowed. Dresses and skirts must meet the existing code of 1" beyond finger length. High heeled shoes will be allowed  provided they are 2" or less in height.
 
As this is a school sponsored event at an off-campus site, appropriate behavior is extremely important. Student behavior will be a direct reflection of our school and district. Consequences for making poor choices will be the same as those at the school site.  We look forward to fun filled evening that marks the end (almost) of middle school for this terrific group of students.  

The AOMS Visual Art Show
The 3rd Annual Visual Arts Show will be taking place during the Aviara Oaks Middle School Open House  in the Multi-Purpose Room on Wednesday, May 28.  Both Ms. Decosmo's Art classes and Ms. Standley's Photography classes will be displaying work they have completed during this past year.  Some of this artwork will also be displayed this summer at the Del Mar Fair!  Come enjoy your students' beautiful work!  Snacks will be on sale and proceeds will benefit the Art Department.

Strawberries in May!
Fresh picked strawberries will be on sale after school on Wednesdays in the month of May!  Please support Odyssey of the Mind students and 8th Grade Promotions by stopping by and buying some farm fresh, picked that morning, strawberries.  $3 per single and $8 per 3 pack.  We accept cash or checks written to AOMS-PTSA.


San Diego Police Foundation Presentation on Internet Safety for Parents
The SD Police Foundation will present a free presentation on Internet Safety, Bridging the Digital Divide: Waht Parents Ned to Know.  The presentation will be on June 4th, at Calavera Hills MS at 6:30 PM.  Not appropriate for children under 13 years.  Space is limited, so register today at 858-453-5060 or www.sdpolicefoundation.org/registerdd
