RED RIBBON WEEK
OCT 30th - NOV 3rd We hope that parents join us by
displaying red ribbons on their cars as red ribbons will be passed
out during pick up on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
The ribbons can also be picked up in the office at anytime
during the week.
Lots of fun activities are planned
each day: Monday - Carlsbad
Police Officer and his K9 companion
Tuesday - sign a Pledge/Sweet Treat
Wednesday - "I can make a Difference"
cards of support for friends or teens in
crisis Thursday - Sports Day. Wear
sports attire and participate in "Slam Dunk - Drugs are Junk"
basketball games at lunch Friday - wear
your Red "Show your commitment" day
Students will earn
raffle tickets all week for their participation and on Friday, we
will announce the raffle prize winner. Raffle items include 2
tickets to Magic Mountain and free races at K1 Speed.
ASB ANNUAL MAGAZINE DRIVE The ASB
magazine drive is in full swing. Remember 45% of all sales go back
to the school! There are 3 easy ways to get
involved:
Purchase and sell from the catalog
provided. You and your customers may renew or purchase
new subscriptions, as well as purchase other products from the
catalog. Inside the envelope is a "Take It To Work" brochure to be
used as a 2nd set of selling materials. In addition, you and others
can order on-Line at http://www.qsp.com/ Click "Just
Shopping" and enter Aviara Oaks' online code: 425014136. Our daily
online reports will let us know of Internet purchases and the
students who will receive prize credit.
For Out
Of Towners, check out the Postcard Booklet. We've
included a very easy way for you to reach out-of-town friends and
relatives. Simply fill out the Postcard Booklet ("MagNet") and we'll
insert and mail each postcard along with magazine ordering
information.
Email Family &
Friends. In addition to placing your family orders at
qsp.com, you may also send e-mails to friends and family inviting
them to shop online and support our school. Just head to http://www.qsp.com/ and
click on "Register Now" (Online Code: 425014136). After a brief
registration to insure that your son or daughter gets credit for the
sale, you can enter emails and see the prizes for doing
so.

CLASSIFIED SUBSTITUTES
NEEDED Classified subsitututes are needed in the
following areas to serve district-wide: Clerical, Health Offices,
Library, Food Service, Guidance Offices, Custodial,
Grounds/Maintenance, Delivery/ Warehouse, Instructional
Assts-Special Education, Computer Labs, Campus Supervisor and
Monitors. Application information is available on the District

Back by Popular Demand The Agua Hedionda
Lagoon Discovery Center presents "Bats in Your Belfry". Join us for
a fun evening and a fascinating view into the mysterious world of
Bats on Wed, October 25th at 7PM at the haunted halls of the
Discovery Center. Adults and kids alike will enjoy this
presentation, as Dick Wilkins of Bat Rescue dispels the
misconceptions about these misunderstood mammals. Learn all about
the lifestyle and anatomy of these creatures and hear stories of the
bats that are rescued and rehabilitated through Dick's volunteer Bat
Rescue group. The rabies virus will also be discussed in detail as
well as the truth of just how remote the possibility of contracting
the virus truly is. The grand finale includes a viewing of live
bats. Trick-or-treating will be offered to the kids prior to the
lecture, personally distributed by the AHLF's own costumed Board of
Directors. A great event you won't want to miss!!! This event is
free and open to the public. The Discovery Center is located at 1580

Meeting The next school board meeting is
Wednesday, Oct. 25th at the Carlsbad City Council Chambers at
1200 Carlsbad Village Drive beginning at 6pm. Everyone is
welcome.
Caps For Kids Update AOMS
was able to raise $300 for Caps for Kids! Thanks to all

Students Vs. Teachers Volleyball
Game Save the Date!! On Wednesday, November
15th, the Varsity Girls take on the AOMS Teachers right after
school. There will be a raffle with tons of great gifts,
refreshments to buy and lots of fun! Game time is
3pm. Be there!
Special Prop P/Election
Newsletter The AOE PTA recently published a
special edition of the AOE newsletter in which candidates for
election to the school board responded to a series of
questions posed to them. It also briefly mentions Prop

Parent/Teacher Conferences The week
of October 23rd through October 27th, school will be dismissed
at 1:10. During this week, we will be having parent/teacher
conferences. Unlike the elementary schools who have
conferences for every student, we will only be holding
conferences for students who may be at risk. You will be
notified my mail if a conference is needed for your
child. Please remember our early day bell scheulde is
different than our regular day schedule. Both bell schedules
are posted on our Website here.
