PTA Reflections Reception

All students who participated in the PTA Reflections Program are cordially invited to attend the 2006 PTA Reflections Reception and Award Presentation.  This event will be held in the AOMS multipurpose room on Tuesday, November 14th at 6:00 p.m.  This is a wonderful opportunity to see all the amazing entries, and for students to be recognized for their creative work.  Please contact Barbie or Steve Oetting with any questions at (760)931-6826.  We hope you can make it!

Attention Future Poinsettia Elementary Parents
A Poinsettia Pioneer group email list is being developed to keep parents up to date on forming a PTA, fundraising and other needs for the new school. Please email

In addition, there will be a Poinsettia Parents Meet and Greet on Wednesday Nov 29th from 7pm - 8pm at the Bressi Ranch Village Club, 6276 Arbor Rose Dr, Carlsbad 92009. Parents only please!

Babysitting Training Course
This popular course is being offered once again by the American Red Cross and the AOMS PTSA on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 28th & 29th. It will be held right after school from 2:15-5:30PM in Room 1501. The course will include safety and safe play, b
asic care, first aid, essential professional, leadership and caregiving skills and tips on finding babysitting jobs!

Students must be 11 years old before November 28, 2006. The cost is $65 per person with a check payable to AOMS PTSA. The registration deadline is November 15th.  A five day notice is required for a refund. Minimum of 8 people are needed for the class with a maximum of 12 spots available.  Spots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. If the class is full we will offer again at a later date. Students Vs. Teachers Volleyball Game
Save the Date!!  On Wednesday, November 15th, the Varsity Girls take on the AOMS Teachers right after school in the Multipurpose Room.  Game time is 3pm. Admission is $2  if you buy your ticket before the game from a Varsity or JV player or $3 at the door. Your entrance ticket is also good for our special door prize!! It's going to be a great game, lots of food, door prizes, a fabulous raffle and an audience serving contest. Our Announcer for the event is the Amazing Mr. Rogo.

The Snack Bar will be fully stocked with tons of great treats including California Quivers fresh fruit frozen drinks and there will be a HUGE raffle.  Raffle tickets are 2 for $1.00.  The raffle prizes include Gift Certificates to Tuscany Restaurant, Blockbuster, Sammy's, Color Nails, Vanity Beauty Supply, La Costa Coffee, Allen's Pizza, The Pet Nutrition Center, and Starbucks.  More prizes to be announced. LET'S GO FALCONS!!  PLEASE COME SUPPORT YOUR TEAM!!

Problems with Yahoo E-mails
We have been experiencing difficulty sending the AOMS e-mail blast to some providers. Yahoo has been rejecting delivery of the blast in the last few weeks. If you have not received the blast recently please contact your email service provider and ask them to correct this problem. We are posting past editions of the blast on our website to help our Yahoo customers and are trying to develop a work around to alleviate this problem. Sometime during the month of October, our AOMS web site had its 300,000th Hit! It has served over 2.5 Gigabytes over the last year and is now averaging over 4,000 visits and over 30K hits a month. The most popular sections include the staff page, the
student section, the calendar, the newsletter page, the gallery, the forms pages, and the contact pages. Our Web admin Brian Dister spends countless volunteer hours keeping the web site humming. Make sure to let him know we appreciate his efforts at webadmin@aviaraoaksmiddle.com!

E-mail Notifications & Submissions
Please limit submissions to 80 words and PDF files to 200K max! If you are an outside organization, you must contact Libby Knapp (lfbknapp@sdcoe.k12.ca.us) first at the Carlsbad District office for CUSD approval prior to review by AOMS administration.
