Playground Partners Needs Your Help!

Coach Cooper's Surf Camps USA
A Typical Day at Surf Camps USA provides a great beginning for the new surfer and the needed guidance for the more experienced.  For adults and children we offer private and group lessons, week-long and weekend camps, birthday parties, and corporate events. All staff members are first/aid and CPR certified.  Our staff includes past and present Coaches of the Carlsbad High School Surf Team, and professional surfers.  All surf instruction includes but not limited to learning about surfing, ocean awareness (tides, currents, etc.), ocean safety and environmental awareness.  For more information please surf our website:

HELP! Test Proctors Needed 5/7-5/16
Parent volunteers are needed to assist with the STAR (Standardized Testing and Reporting) TEST as Classroom Test Proctors May 7 through May 16, 2007 from 8:10 am to approximately 10:30 am.  If you are available to help on one or more of these days, please contact our STAR Test Site Coordinator, Mrs. Ruby, at 331-6100 ext. 6172 or via email at

Notice: 8th Graders Taking English Honors Next Year 
All students who are not automatically enrolled need to challenge if they want to take Freshman Honors English at CHS. Automatic enrollment requires a 5 on the CST and an A in first semester honors English.
Challenge Exam:  Apr 23-26
Time:  3:15-4:15
Materials:  blue or black pen, a pencil AND white line notebook paper
(mandatory for taking the test)
Room:  initially report to room 816 at CHS and check the posted schedule to se
where the test will be given.

No make-up times or days will be offered. 
Please avoid putting off taking the test until the last day as seating is limited!

CUSD Board Meeting Tomorrow
The next school board meeting is Wednesday, April 25th at The Carlsbad City Chambers at 1200 Carlsbad Village Dr. beginning at 6pm.  There will be a Resolution eliminating positions and ordering layoffs in the classified service due to lack of funds and/or lack of work."  If you are interested in attending and/or want to speak, remember to fill out a blue slip and turn it in.  Speaking procedures are posted on the window of the City Chambers.
