Imagine "Whirled
Peace"
On Thursday, September 21, AOMS art students
will take part in an International art and literacy project,
Pinwheels for Peace, by "planting" pinwheels with messages of
peace at school. The first event, occurring last year, saw
500,000 pinwheels displayed worldwide.
A nonpolitical project, it is simply a
statement of calm and serenity. Students create the
pinwheels, write their thoughts about peace, tolerance, and living
in harmony with others, and display them as a public statement and
art exhibit/installation.

We Need Your Help on Proposition
P
Prop P on the November ballot must pass in order to
build our new high school and replace AOMS portables with new
buildings. For more information about Prop P click here.
We are currently in need of
volunteers to man the phone banks, rally support for the
proposition, and remind voters to get out and vote on election day
(10 volunteers needed per session). So get a group of friends
together and volunteer for a couple of hours at Prop P
headquarters. The headquarters is located at 5919 Farnsworth
Ct. (off of Faraday and Rutherford). AOMS designated sessions are 9/27, 10/1, 10/12,
10/21, and 10/24. All volunteers will be given scripts so
there is no need to be an expert on the proposition. Volunteer
hours are from 5:45 - 8:30 PM. High School students can also
earn community service hours volunteering.
For more
information, contact Shellie Robinson at 431-5445 or
533-3314 or by e-mail at shellandsons@sbcglobal.net.
