ASB Annual Magazine
Drive By now, parents should have seen materials come
home with their student for AOMS' annual magazine fundraiser.
Our school earns 45% profit and we hope that your family will get
involved. Even one sale from each student will insure our success!
There are 3 easy ways to get involved: 1. Purchase and
sell from the catalog provided. Renew or purchase new subscriptions.
You can even order on-Line at http://www.qsp.com/. Click "Just Shopping"
and enter Aviara Oaks' online code: 425014136. Our daily online
reports will let us know of Internet purchases and the students who
will receive prize credit. 2. For Out Of Towners- We've included
a very easy way for you to reach out-of-town friends and relatives.
Simply fill out the Postcard Booklet ("MagNet") and we'll insert and
mail each postcard along with magazine orderinginformation. 3.
Email Family & Friends. Send e-mails to friends and family
inviting them to shop online and support our school. Just head to http://www.qsp.com/ and click on "Register

Fred Becker Student
Assemblies The PTSA is sponsoring Fred Becker assemblies
this month on bullying, harassment and violence prevention for
students. Mr. Becker will be speaking to each grade level about such
topics as avoiding becoming a victim, staying in control, changing
the rules of the game and how to respond as a bystander. Be sure to
ask your child about it!
Students Vs. Staff
Volleyball Save the Date!! On Wednesday, November
15th, the Varsity Girls take on the AOMS Teachers right after
school. There will be a raffle with tons
of great gifts, refreshments to buy and lots of fun! Game time
is 3pm. Be there!
Proposition P Phone Bank
Volunteers Still Needed for 10/21 and 10/24 AOMS is
currently in need of volunteers to man phone banks, rally support
and remind voters to get out and vote on election day (10 volunteers
needed per session). Volunteer for a few hours at Prop P
headquarters which are located at 5919 Farnsworth Ct. (off of
Faraday and Rutherford). Volunteers are needed from
Noon-2:30PM on 10/21 and 5:45 pm - 8:00 pm on 10/24. We are at
crunch time with only a few short weeks until the election. You
can bring your middle schooler along with you too! Please contact

Autumn
Harvest Festival The Carlsbad Village Farmer's Market
will be hosting its Autumn Harvest Festival this Wednesday, October
18, 1-5pm and Saturday, October 21, 9am-1pm at Carlsbad Village
in the Roosevelt Street Parking Lot between Carlsbad Village Drive
and Grand Avenue. Come on Wednesday to visit our Pumpkin Patch and
pick out a fine specimen, then register it to enter the Jack
O'Lantern Contest. In addition to seasonal produce and
fresh flowers, check out these tasty delights: Tasty Pumpkin Tamales
- Wed & Sat, Decadent Pumpkin Flan - Sat, Incredible Dessert
Crepes - Sat, and Delicious Pumpkin Bread - Wed. For more

Sign Up Now for Carlsbad Youth
Baseball Carlsbad Youth Baseball (CYB) will be opening
registration for its 15th season of spring baseball on October
15th. Registration forms can be downloaded from the CYB
website hereand mailed
in with payment. Tryouts for the spring season will be held on
January 13th and 20th, and Opening Day will be held on Saturday,
March 3rd. CYB is a Non-Profit Organization that serves
hundreds of players and their families in Carlsbad, California and
surrounding cities.
Register for Carlsbad Softball Spring 2007
Season Now Registration for Carlsbad Girls Softball
Recreational League is scheduled for Saturday, October 21, 2006,
Saturday, October 28, 2006 and Saturday, November 11, 2006 between
9AM to 1PM at Calavera Hills Park near the Snack Shack. Registration
fees are payable by check or money order and are $110 for ages 6U,
$120 for ages 6-8 and $135 for ages 9 and up. For more information,

Miguel de Hoyos
Concert Classical and contemporary guitarist Miguel de
Hoyos will be performing at the Cultural Arts Center on Thursday,
Oct. 19th at 7pm. Tickets are $10 and are sold at the

Parent/Teacher
Conferences The week of October 23rd through
October 27th, school will be dismissed at 1:10. During this
week, we will be having parent/teacher conferences.
Unlike the elementary schools who have conferences for every
student, we will only be holding conferences for students who
may be at risk. You will be notified my mail if a
conference is needed for your child. Please remember our
early day bell scheulde is different than our regular day
schedule. Both bell schedules are posted on our Website
here.
Special Prop P/Election
Newsletter The AOE PTA recently published a
special edition of the AOE newsletter in which candidates for
election to the school board responded to a series of
questions posed to them. It also briefly mentions Prop
P. Take a look here.
PTA Reflections
Program The PTA Reflections Program is officially
underway. We hope all your kids have been reflecting
about their favorite places and have begun to express their
thoughts through writing, music, photography, art, video, or
dance! If you have any questions or need an entry form,
please contact Barbara Oetting at 931-6826 or go to the PTSA
web site here. Entries are due by
October 18th.
Red Ribbon Week is Coming!
We hope parents join our efforts by displaying
red ribbons on their cars during the week of 10/30-11/3 as red
ribbons will be passed out during afternoon pick up on Monday
and Tuesday of that week. They can also be picked up at
the office at anytime during that week. Lots of fun
activities are planned for the week including a visit from
a Carlsbad Police Officer and his K9 companion, a
Pledge/Sweet Treat, "I can make a Difference" support cards
for friends or teens in crisis, a Sports Day, and
some "Slam Dunk - Drugs are Junk" basketball games at
lunch. Students will earn raffle tickets all week for
their participation and on Friday raffle ticket winners will
be announced. Raffle prizes include 2 tickets to
Magic Mountain and free races at K1 Speed. Essays
for Red Ribbon Week are due Oct. 27th, Winners will be
announced Oct. 31st!
